SPOKANE--There are so many families in need right now in Spokane who are just scraping together whatever they have in order to make a holiday happen.  A $20 donation to Tom’s Turkey Drive can mean so much for these families struggling to get by.

Patricia Perkins is a mother of two and she’s been in and out of work for years, struggling every day to cover their needs.  She also supported her ex-husband up until his death from a terminal illness last month.

Patricia says she’s relied on government assistance to pay bills and feed her kids.  "Having to rely on everyone else all the time is hard. It’s very humbling and very hard,” says Perkins.

One of those humbling experiences came when Patricia had no money for Thanksgiving dinner three years in row.  She says she's not even sure what she would have fed her kids on those holidays without Tom's Turkey Drive.

Perkins has finally landed steady work and is off assistance.  She says during the holiday season, no matter where she is in life, Tom’s Turkey Drive will always be on her list of blessings.

She says she can’t imagine living anywhere else but Spokane and that the generosity of the community continues to amaze her.
