Food, drink and travel website Thrillist placed Washington state fifth on a list ranking all 50 states by their beer.

Washington, which grows the majority of the nation's commercial hops, is home to over 200 breweries. The article mentions local breweries such as Seattle's Elysian, and applauds brewers like Pyramid and Redhook for bringing "micro" beers to the masses by means of a lower price tag.

Beer aficionados need not leave the West Coast: along with ranking Washington fifth, Thrillist ranked Oregon and California first and second, respectively.

Feel that Washington's beer was ranked too low, especially compared to our neighbors to the south? Thrillist editor Matt Lynch mentioned that he will "happily accept offers to send him beer if you feel your state was slighted."
