SPOKANE – If you use Ray Street to get up or down Spokane’s South Hill, get ready to change your routine the next two weeks.
Ray Street will be blocked at 23rd while crews replace the Lincoln Heights Booster Station. It’s the facility that provides water to residents and businesses on the upper South Hill.
The City of Spokane's Water Department will pay $1.8 million to replace the station's aging pumps. They city said the station will be more energy efficient once construction is complete
Crews will need to access water mains under Ray Street to complete the project.
To avoid the construction, you can go west to Grand Avenue, take Southeast down the hill, or go east of the project and take Glenrose to Carnahan.
Traffic will be rerouted to Freya during the two-week closure.
