SPOKANE, Wash.--A local woman hit the big screen in October. Danielle Albert is a Shadle Park graduate and is in a movie alongside Tom Hanks.
She shares a scene with Hanks in his new movie Captain Phillips.
Albert’s friends were surprised when they found out the scene she is in is the same one that could nominate Tom Hanks for an Oscar. Her friends said it is the best scene in the movie. They said Albert is not even an actress.
"I was shocked because she was never into acting as a high school student,” said Rachel Clement, Alberta’s friend.
Clement said Albert graduated from Shadle Park High School in 2008 and never took acting classes.
“During an interview she was completely caught off guard and had no idea they were filming,” said Brittney Mcneely, Albert’s friend.
Her friends said Albert joined the Navy and works off the east coast on a ship. A couple of years ago the cast decided to film the movie where Albert worked and had open casting calls. Albert was cast as a Navy nurse.
"So we did it again and I did exactly what I would do in real life,” said Albert.
Although her friends are a little jealous, they said they could not be more proud. They said Albert will be back in Spokane in the summer of 2014.
Captain Phillips is a film about the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates. The movie hit theatres October 11, 2013.
