SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A vigilant business owner told officers he caught a burglary suspect red handed in Spokane Valley.

It happened Sunday at the business complex on the 15000 block of E. Valleyway.

The owner called the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office after a man approached him asking for a cigarette.  When he told him no, the owner watched suspect Aaron Despirito, 18, attempt to open one of the closed doors in the complex.  The owner followed Despirito to the back of the complex and witnessed him in a building going through a desk.

The owner armed himself with an expandable paint roller handle and confronted Despirito.  An altercation ensued and Despirito ran from the business.

A deputy spotted Despirito a short distance away and arrested him.  Despirito was booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charge of 1st Degree Burglary.
