SPOKANE -- Smoke from the massive Taylor Bridge wildfire in Central Washington could be seen all the way in Spokane Tuesday.

Air experts with the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency said it was the worst summer air quality rating in three years.

Because of all the particles from the smoke, experts said certain people could be affected.

Air Quality Technician Mark Rowe said, “Mostly people with heart or lung conditions, young children, people who are especially sensitive.”

Tuesday’s air quality rating in Spokane was just over a 70, which is considered “moderate” on the scale from one to 200.

Experts recommend people who are sensitive to unclean air either stay inside or stay away from outdoor physical activities.

The Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency predicts the winds will shift overnight, and the smoke should drift away from Spokane by Wednesday.
