SPOKANE, Wash. -- A man was upset about the cost of donuts and allegedly threatened a Spokane convenience store clerk with a syringe.

The Spokane Police Department said Gary C. Gottula, 33, was arrested on Sunday for 2nd degree Robbery and 2nd degree Assault.

Officers said he robbed the owner of the 3rd Avenue Grocery after getting angry about the price of the woman's donuts.  Witnesses said the man went bezerk when he found out the box of donuts was $3.99.

“He was all like, ‘I'm going to hit her.’ Said witness Christina Diperna.

She said the suspect even began knocking products off of the shelves. Diperna described the rest of the scene and added that is when the suspect charged a small elderly woman working at the store. Officers said Gottula threatened the store clerk with a syringe, pushed her, and spit in her face. Diperna said Gottula also attacked other witnesses by throwing a doorknob at a group of women.

There were no reports of any injuries.
