SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police returned a missing boy to his parents Friday.
Authorities said the 4-year-old child walked out of an unlocked door at home after waking up Friday morning. The boy’s mother did not realize the boy had wandered off until an hour later.
Spokane Police said the boy's babysitter noticed the boy was gone, called his mother and they called 911.
Police said neighbors found the boy, wearing only underwear, a block and a half away from his home near Olympic and Assembly. The neighbors picked up the boy and gave him clothes and a popsicle.
"He seemed so vulnerable. You see a little kid out there with no clothes on, it's just sad," said Emily Paulson, who helped the little boy.
Officers arrived and returned the child to his mother.
Child Protective Services is investigating.
This is the second time in just a few weeks a child in Spokane has woken up and wandered away from home. Police officers are urging people to keep their doors locked.
