SPOKANE--Marijuana may be legal in Washington, but there are still many challenges that face anyone looking to take advantage of the new state law.

Simply trying to find a place that sells medical marijuana in our area isn't easy and those running businesses selling smoking products are distancing themselves from the drug.

Places like Spocanna Care on North Division have signs saying they’re not open.  Others don’t have any sign of ever being in town.

KREM2 looked up several local dispensaries, but were unable to get through to any of them.  For example, The Human Connection is listed on Market Street in Hillyard, but a different business is located at the given address.  Staff there think a dispensary occupied the spot before them.

KREM2 also spoke with several tobacco product sellers.  They say they’ve been asked by many about buying marijuana, but because it’s still illegal at the federal level, they’re not interested in getting into that business.
