SPOKANE, Wash. -- Two people and their dog survived being thrown into a garbage truck early Tuesday in Spokane.
It happened around 7:00 a.m. near 2nd Avenue and Sherman.
A garbage truck driver thought he heard a lot of noise coming from the back of his truck and noticed boxes flying out, according to the Spokane Fire Department. When the driver pulled over, he called for help.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a man, woman, and dog all inside the garbage truck. They had been sleeping in a dumpster and tossed into the garbage truck as the dumpster was emptied. Crews estimated the couple and dog fell about five feet from the dumpster into the garbage truck.
Medics took the pair to the hospital as a precaution, but no major injuries were reported. The couple likely just suffered bruising, according to experts. The condition of the dog was not immediately known, according to authorities.
