SPOKANE--Gonzaga University honored one of its graduates Monday who was killed in combat this past summer.

First Lieutenant Mathew Fazzarri died when his helicopter crashed in Afghanistan.

In several eulogies by family and friends, Fazzari was described as having made a genuine mark on the Bulldog Battalion ROTC Program.  Fellow cadets say he always did what was right and lived his life with passion and principle.

Others describe Fazzari as bold, audacious, humble and candid.

He’s remembered as a loyal husband and father.  He leaves behind a wife and two children.
