Fire damages apartments on Spokane's Lower South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. - Fire damaged three units in an apartment building on Spokane's Lower South Hill early Monday morning.

It started just before 3:30 a.m. at the Cedar Terrace Apartments on 8th and Walnut.

A resident called 911 when she saw smoke in the hallway.
 
Dispatchers had her pull the fire alarm and evacuated the building.

Crews were able to keep the fire contained to one unit on the second floor of the building, but two other units suffered smoke damage.  The Red Cross helped the people in those three apartments find shelter.

No injuries were reported.

The fire department said the cause of the fire was smoking related.
