SPOKANE -- The medical examiner identified the body found in the Spokane River Monday morning as a Spokane man.
Officials say the body was identified as 23-year-old Brent Desouza.
Emergency crews from Spokane County recovered a body in Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane Monday morning.
Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a report of a man in the water near Riverfront Park. Witnesses reported seeing him in the water for several minutes. Officers and Fire Department personnel searched for over an hour.
Monday, just after 10am, the man’s body was located in the Spokane River, near the Park Carousel. The body police recovered has similar characteristics of a missing persons report.
Friends of Desouza told KREM 2 he was drinking with friends at the Blue Spark, Saturday night and he ended-up near the carousel.
Officials say the cause of death was accidental drowning.
