SPOKANE, Wash. -- Deputies said thieves gutted a building in Hillyard over the past week, taking nearly all the copper pipe and electrical wire throughout the entire warehouse.
The Sheriff’s Office responded Wednesday to a burglary call near 6600 N. Market Street. The property owner told investigators sometime over the past three days thieves cut through a cyclone fence on the property and broke into the building. The suspects tore through the sheet metal on the outside of the building and the interior sheet rock, deputies said.
The property owner estimated the burglars caused over $10,000 in damage.
"The walls are bear, the sink is gone, and in the other bathroom they took the toilet and they even used this toilet even though there's not water in the building," said owner, Mark Davis.
Davis made the place into an office but will now have to repair the building into a warehouse.
