COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- A 14-year-old Coeur d’Alene girl is recovering at home after spending two months in intensive care.
Darby Lopp suffered a severe brain injury after falling off a moving van in September. When doctors took her off life support, they did not expect her to make it through the weekend.
Lopp has been home for three weeks now. She is unable to walk or talk, but can respond to questions using her hands.
“It is a miracle and surreal. She is making sounds and moving body part she wasn’t supposed to be able to move,” said Darby’s nurse, Christina Sheridan.
Darby’s father started a charity called “Darby’s House” to help kids with brain injuries.
