COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho-- A new hotel being built in Coeur d’Alene is going green. Owners plan to make the Marriot Spring Hill Suites fit special environmentally friendly requirements.
Plans call for the 118 room hotel to be green certified by Leadership in Energy and Environment Design standards.
Owner, Kent Clausen, told KREM 2 News that the hotel must include special materials. LEED certified buildings feature different adhesives, water saving fixtures, and low impact landscaping.
“We’re really excited about it people are receptive to it it's the right thing to do its more sustainable project,” said Clausen.
Plans call for energy saving features too. Clausen added climate control technology to his design. Censors will monitor whether guests are in the room. The temperature will drop when a guest is not there.
The hotel opens in early June.
