SPOKANE— Four suspects broke into a North Spokane home early Tuesday and hogtied three adults inside.
Spokane Police say four white males knocked on the front door around 3 a.m. at the home on North Alpine Court. Authorities say someone inside the house let the suspects inside and that is when one of the suspects showed a handgun. The suspects then tied up three adults, according to police. A child was also home at the time but was not tied up.
Neighbor Shawn Mathias says the owner of the house was pistol whipped several times.
Police say somehow the victims managed to get loose and fight back. A fist fight broke out and at one point, a suspect held a gun to a female victim’s head. They added a victim also grabbed a sword off the wall and slashed one of the suspects.
Mathias says during the confrontation, the owner of the house got out through a window and ran to his home for help.
After the confrontation, the suspects fled in a dark, 4-door Dodge Intrepid. They are described as males in their early twenties or late teens. They are said to be wearing dark clothing and have thin builds. Police said one of the suspects also stole a cell phone from the residence.
Investigators say one of the victims recognized one of the suspects. The victims also told police methamphetamine in the house was left by the suspects. Police ask anyone with information to contact authorities.
