SPOKANE, Wash. -- Highly decorated veterans were honored at a Veteran’s Day dinner on Spokane’s South Hill Thursday night.
One of the veterans recognized was Staff Sergeant Ty Carter. Carter is a former North Central High School student who received the Medal of Honor in August. He risked his life by running through enemy fire to save an injured soldier.
Carter’s mother said he is the type of person to do his job, no mater the cost and he was not much of a talker until now.
“I though when he got this award I was worried because he’d have to talk about it and talk about it and talk about it. But, on the opposite it’s been healthy for him when I thought it might not be,” said his mother Paula.
