SANDPOINT, Idaho -- Skiers and snowboarders can expect some improvements at Schweitzer Mountain this season.  The resort invested around $1 million in special projects.

One of the projects includes moving and improving the old Starfish Terrain Park. The Southside Progression Park will be designed for intermediate riders.

Schweitzer managers are also trying to improve its appeal to ski racers. The resort staff has steepened some its race courses on the back side of the mountain.

Managers said they are also improving resort Wi-Fi in the village lower on the mountain.  They are also working to build a new outdoor deck for Taps Bar.

Schweitzer leaders hopes to be open by Thanksgiving but that all depends on the weather.
