COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Businesses on Sherman Avenue in Coeur d’Alene said construction is a challenge but the warm weather is helping bring in more people and increase sales.

A little more than a month ago, Shenanigan's Toy Emporium & Sweet Shop saw sales drop 30% because of construction right outside their door. Now business is improving.

“It did start picking up but it is still a really slow start for the summer,” said employee Dannea Mensching.

The toy is still not where they want to be for the season. They say the weather is helping and the stretch of good conditions has also helped make up the losses from construction.

Other store say they’re doing better than normal this year. All Things Irish says they’re doing so well they encourage visitors to help the other shops in downtown.
