COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Family and friends of nearly 2,400 Ironman lined the course to cheer on their loved ones.
Zoee Johnson woke up at 4:00 a.m. to root for her brother.
“It’s absolutely amazing. I’ve never had such adrenaline. It’s amazing to see a family member do something like that,” Johnson said.
It was a long day on the course, but an even longer journey to get there for out-of-town supporters. Some wore home-made shirts and caps, and rang cow bells to show their support.
Even when the cheers are over, one thing will stay the same.
Not every athlete could finish in first place, but they’re still Ironman champions in their eyes of their biggest fans.
