HAYDEN, Idaho--A 12-year-old girl from Hayden, Idaho has been named one of ten national 'Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program' winners.

Sara Klader has earned $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education. Kohl’s will also be donating $1,000 to a nonprofit organization of her choice.

Sara has been recognized for her outstanding philanthropic efforts.  

Sara sells dishtowels with the charity logo, “Kids Helping Kids Fix Broken Hearts” on them to helps financially-burdened families pay for surgery-related expenses that are not covered by insurance.

Sara has sold approximately 5,000 towels raising nearly $50,000 and helping 20 families.

Sara has partnered with Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. to help identify families in need of assistance.

Sara has organized more than 100 volunteers from her school to help prepare the dishtowels.
