COEUR D'ALENE -- A wedding hinging on one man finishing Ironman is now officially on. A couple from Australia took part in the Ironman competition because the girlfriend would not marry her finance unless he finished an Ironman race.
Last week, KREM 2 News introduced you to the couple when they first arrived from Sydney, Australia. Lachlan Wolfers was worried because his fiancee said he had to finish an Ironman before she would exchange vows. Lachlan made it and the some of the first words he said when he crossed the finish line was exhausted and exhilarated. The couple will say 'I do' in six weeks
Jane also finished the race, ahead of her fiance. But it does not bother that she finished first.
"I'm totally fine with that. She's a great athlete. She works hard. She deserves it. It's what works in our relationship," said Wolfers.
But this was Lachlan's first and last Ironman. He completed the Ironman competition at six hours and 42 minutes. His fiancee came in a little earlier at five hours and 57 minutes.
