SPOKANE -- Of the thousands Hoopfest participants, only a select few can call themselves 2010 "Elite" champions after Sunday's title games.
In the "men's six foot and over" division, Tonicx repeated as tournament champions, defeating Bam Jam of Boise 21-11. Former Gonzaga forward David Pendergraft and Denver University product and Ferris High School grad Erik Benzel once again proved their team was best. Daniel Haynes and Mitch Holda also contributed in Tonicx' dominating repeat-effort.
For the first time in four years, there's a new champion in the "men's elite six-foot and under" division. Associated Messenger saw its three-year reign come to an end as No Ceilings whacked them in the title tilt, 20-11. Brothers Justin and Dan Bright along with Joseph Hodges and Joel Ryman dominated the defending champs from start to finish to take over the crown.
The "women's elite" division championship game was the closest, as last year's runner-up TBA got over the hump, defeating Acme Concrete Paving 20-18 in the finals. Casey Nash, Amy Taylor, Breanne Watson and Lindsey Wilson make up the winning team, as TBA outlasted all other women's elite competitors.
