SPOKANE -- The Spokane Fire Department's fire bond is failing. It needs a super majority of 60-percent to pass. But the fire department is hoping to make that up.
Right now, the bond has 58-percent of the vote. It needs another two percent to pass. The bond deals with equipment only, no firefighters.
The department is hoping for things like new fire engines, ladder trucks, even firefighting gear. All the way down to new hoses. It would cost taxpayers about ten dollars more in taxes for a $100,000 house.
The fire department says they really need this bond. This is directly related to your safety. If they don't have good gear, that puts firefighters in danger and you as well.
