SPOKANE, Wash. -- Vandals covered nearly every wall of a Spokane church with graffiti early Monday.

Pastor Dan Henshaw arrived at the Mountain View Assembly of God Church on Nevada and Magnesium to find obscene paintings of body parts and derogatory language splattered on the building.

Some parents wept as they dropped off children for daycare at the church.

Officials said the building is made of stucco rocks and cannot be easily cleaned.  Church officials planned to call a contractor to see what could be done.

The church provides daycare all year round, but many kids who were dropped off Monday morning had to cover their eyes so they didn't have to read the hateful language written on the walls.

Church leaders said they had tried to warn parents but did not get the message to all of them in time. Parents were doing their best to keep their kids from seeing the words written on the walls.

The pastor of the church said that he had never seen anything like it in the 26 years with the church. He said he was not sure if painting over the graffiti or pressure washing are possible options to clean it up.

"We'll just pray for them," said Pastor Henshaw. "Hope the love of the lord would touch them."

Spokane Police said they are investigating the crime. They collected evidence on scene and hope it helps to identify possible suspects.
