SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.--Local soccer teams are mourning the loss of McKenzie Mott and Josie Freier.

Both of the girls played soccer at University High. Mott was a starting forward on the varsity team.

Practice was cancelled Monday afternoon to allow both coaches and players time to cope with the loss.

University High was set to play Lewis and Clark Wednesday but the high school requested the game be postponed.

Several of Lewis and Clark High School’s girl’s soccer members knew Mott from club soccer.

Mott’s club team also remembered her Monday night. There is no official word yet on what the team plans on doing when they resume playing in mid-November. Someone close with the team said they plan on having special jerseys and T-shirts this season.

It’s not clear when the soccer team will resume practice at University High.
