SPOKANE, Wash. -- Leaders at Life Center Church released security video on Wednesday of the vehicle, which drove into their church on Tuesday, November 5.

Administrative Pastor Blake Folden said the camera is at the back of the sanctuary. Folden described the footage to KREM 2 News. He said the car can be seen entering the building, driving across the stage, and going down the steps.  The vehicle stopped as it hit the pews according to Folden.

The car crashed through Life Center Church sometime overnight into Tuesday morning, smashing through a wall and driving over the stage and into the pews, authorities said.

Police were investigating the crash as a hit and run collision.

Police said the car ended up well inside the church building off Government Way, not far from Spokane Falls Community College.  A security guard discovered the crash while performing a routine check.  Police were contacted around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the driver of the car was nowhere to be found.

Detectives have identified a person of interest. Police said there is no evidence to indicate this was a hate crime. They said weather did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives are working to contact a Western Washington man who is the registered owner of the vehicle.

The cause of the crash was placed under investigation.
