MEAD, WA--Two rival schools came together Thursday to fight against bullying.

The entire Mountainside Middle School Student body spent time at Northwood Middle School to hear the story of Rachel Scott, the first person killed in the mass shooting at Columbine High School.

It’s all part of Rachel’s Challenge, a program that looks to reduce bullying in schools.

Staff at both schools say the importance of being good to each other is top of mind, particularly following the school shootings in Newtown, CT.

A special event is also being held Thursday night for parents, students and all community members in the Mead School District.  The free event will be held in the Mead High School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
