FAIRCHILD AIRFORCE BASE, Wash.--A former prisoner of war spoke to airmen about his experience Monday morning at Fairchild Air Force Base.

Enemy forces shot down Dr. Hector M. Acosta and captured him in North Vietnam in 1972 during the Vietnam War. Acosta explained how his Survival, Resistance and Escape training saved his life.

Acosta was held captive for nearly four months before he was rescued.
