SPOKANE, Wash. -- Unseasonably hot weather may be to blame for a drop in numbers at the Spokane County Fair.
Fair organizers said the number of visits is down about 7 thousand people since 2012. More people have tended to show up to the fair later in the evening this year, they said.
"It was super hot today and we didn't want to spend all that time in the heat so we came when it was cooler out," said fairgoer Julia Roth.
"Yeah, it's way cooler at night,” added Shawna Cumpton. “I am actually four months pregnant, so it's nice not to be out in the heat."
Managers hoped the warm weekend would help bump the lower number of visitors up for this year’s fair.
