SPOKANE--After recently accepting “Rachel’s Challenge”, seventh graders at Northwood Middle School sat down Friday for a “New Student Luncheon.”
The lunch is designed to help new students transition easier into their new school and gives them an opportunity to break the ice with new friends.
Today’s lunch was put on by the Friends of Rachel Club, a group of students and staff committed to creating a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.
The students say that after accepting Rachel’s Challenge only a few weeks ago they’re already seeing a noticeable difference at school.
The challenge is named in honor of Rachel Scott, who was the first victim of the 1999 Columbine tragedy.
