NINE MILE FALLS. Wash. -- The man who allegedly strangled his girlfriend and attempted to dissolve her body in acid pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Tuesday.
Jason Hart, 27, was arrested on June 4 after surrendering to authorities in Nine Mile Falls. Hart's roommate discovered Regan Jolley, 33, soaking in a plastic tub of acid in a nearby garage and called 911.
Authorities believe Hart was trying to dispose of her remains by dissolving them in sulfuric acid from high strength drain cleaner.
Court documents listed what authorities found in the murder suspect’s home. Authorities seized DVD discs of Breaking Bad at Jason Hart’s home. The discs included Breaking Bad’s season one, episode two. The episode involves a character dissolving somebody’s body in tub full of acid.
Hart was initially charged with First Degree Murder. His charges were later downgraded to second degree murder based on evidence, according to authorities.
Hart is due back in court July 26th and his trial date is set for mid August. He remains behind bars on $500,000 bond.
