SPOKANE, Wash. -- Officials said a man accused in a deadly drive-by in May was also likely involved in a string of violent robberies.
Issiah Schauman, 19, is already accused of shooting and killing Fabian McBride in June. Spokane County and City detectives both agree that Schauman is dangerous.
Detectives said Schauman went on an armed crime spree in the spring of 2013. They said he not only shot and killed his close friend, but was also a key player in a string of Craiglist robberies in March.
Schauman stood before a judge on Tuesday and prosecutors are seeking these additional charges now. He pleaded not guilty.
Spokane Police said there were at least five victims in the alleged Craigslist scheme, where, according to officials, Schauman and his friends would find people selling MacBooks on Craigslist, arrange to meet them in Franklin Park, and then rob them at gunpoint.
Court documents detailed Schauman's alleged involvement in the robberies, saying an informant reported in one of the cases that Schauman approached a female victim, and pulled out a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.
Officials said Schauman was arrested for murder before robbery charges were added on, so that will likely play out first in court.
