SPOKANE-- Discount retailer Marshall's will open its doors Thursday morning at Spokane’s Northtown Mall.

The store was supposed to open last fall, but construction delays halted those plans.

Employees are gearing up for opening day and local neighbors are counting down.

James Addington works at a store inside Northtown Mall, and says he's excited for foot traffic to go up.

For nearly a year, the 26,000 square foot space sat empty. The discount retailer takes over the anchor spot formerly occupied by Nordstrom Rack.

Marshall's will add close to 60 full and part-time jobs to the area.

The store will have a Grand Opening celebration Thursday at 8 a.m.
