SPOKANE, Wash. – Rain or shine, the Spokane Summer Parkways invites everyone to a four-mile stretch of streets on Spokane’s South Hill from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.

Four years ago, Spokane took a note from the country of Columbia where they have an event called “ciclovia” which means “bike path.” A committee of volunteers decided to block off the streets to make way for foot and bike traffic to encourage people to get outside and be active.

A four-mile road route will stretch from Manito Park to Comstock Park (view the route here).

A bike decorating contest begins at 7 p.m. on the south entrance of Manito Park awarding the best in the following categories:
Most Colorful Bike, Handlebars with the Most Bling, Tallest Bike, Smallest Bike, Funniest Bike & Rider, Best Decorated Basket, Best Illuminated Bike & Rider, and Best Adult “Art Bike.”
