EAGLE -- A Kansas City man claims he's set a world video game record at a soon-to-be-opened Eagle arcade.
Lonnie McDonald stopped in Eagle as part of his cross-country trek to set the high score for the 1980's arcade game "Joust" in arcades across the country.
McDonald says he set the original world record on 'Joust' back in the 80's.
"I turned 50 last year," McDonald told KTVB. "So I said, 'What did you do when you were young?' and I said 'Hey, I rocked the world at video games,' so I said 'Hey, let's go out and play video games,'" McDonald explained.
The soon-to-be-opened Vintage Arcade in Eagle features the "Joust" game McDonald so-loves.
The 50-year-old was allowed in before the arcade's opening in order to accomplish his high scoring feat.
The high score on 'Joust' is ten-million. McDonald played Wednesday night into Thursday morning until he finally made the high score.
