Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.--Among those honored Wednesday at the hometown heroes luncheon was a dentist office in Coeur d’Alene.

Lakeview Dental outfits football players with custom mouth guards. The office outfitted around 200 players in the last two years. The mouth guards are specially colored for them to match their team.

The office would normally charge more than $100 a piece for the mouth guards. The office said it gets much more out of the experience by giving them as a gift.

"They feel like family. It's fun. You can see 'em year after year and they remember the time that they were there before and they enjoy comin' in and you begin to put names with faces and feel much more a part of the community because you've got those relationships and you're building on those relationships and that's what it's all about,” said Dr. Spencer Wirig.

Lakeview Dental is looking at expanding the service to sports beyond football. They are thinking of including athletes that play basketball, wrestling and soccer.
