SPOKANE, Wash. -- A six-year-old boy battling leukemia got to play a character from his favorite movie on Friday.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation hosted the event before granting Carter Headlock's wish in October. Headlock loves the move Cars so his family took him to the Wonderland Family Fun Center to let him become Lightning McQueen, the movie's protagonist.
The staff at Wonderland made a car that looks like Carter's favorite character, Lightning McQueen. Carter got into the car with his name on it, got strapped in, and took laps around the course.
Carter is awaiting treatment for leukemia and Make-A-Wish volunteers said this helps to keep him focused away from his hospital time.
They said they wanted this event to get him excited for his up-coming Make-A-Wish trip on a Disney Cruise in October.
Carter's wish is one of 70 granted in 2013 for Eastern Washington.
