COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho—The Banana Peel is one of the most entertaining parts of the entire Ironman experience. It is the transition that takes place between the swim and the bike ride.

Competitors need to shed their wet suit quickly to get to their bikes. That is where the volunteers come in to help remove the sticky suits. The process has become known as The Banana Peel.
