Spokane police arrest Kennewick homicide suspect

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police officers in North Spokane have taken a homicide suspect into custody after a stand-off on Friday.  Grant Scantling, 41, was wanted for a Kennewick, Washington homicide.

The suspect was apprehended on the 2200 block of North Denver after a SWAT team entered the home. He was taken into custody by the Kennewick Police.

Authorities blocked off roads on Friday while they searched for the suspect in the 1600 block of East Lacrosse. The car Scantling may have used in the homicide was pakred outside a home in the area. Witnesses on the scene said that officers are patrolling in a four block radius. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office helicopter also circled the area.

Officers began looking for Scantling on Friday morning following a death in Kennewick. The victim was a 21-year-old man. Kennewick police said Scantling was considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators believe Scantling and the victim knew each other. The victim's name has not been released.
