SPOKANE, Wash. -- The wife of the Gail Gerlach said their life has been in shambles since the fatal shooting of Brendon Kaluza-Graham back in March.

Gail Gerlach is accused of fatally shooting Kaluza-Graham who was allegedly in the process of stealing his SUV. He pleaded not guilty and was released on his recognizance.

Gerlach’s wife Sharon said her family was very nervous before he went to court on Wednesday. She also said her husband was taking everything very hard.

“It is what it is,” Sharon Gerlach said. “No matter what the outcome, this is something all of us will have to live with and there’s no getting around that. He’s just a great dad, a great husband. Probably better than I deserve. I’m getting by. That’s about it.”

Gail Gerlach is not allowed to have firearms as a term of his release. His family said this scared them because they have received death threats since the shooting.

The family of the victim said their life has been a living hell since Kaluza-Graham was shot. They said Gerlach being charged will not change that.

Gerlach has until 5:00 p.m. Thursday to turn himself into the Spokane County Jail. He will be released after being finger printed and photographed.
