SPOKANE, Wash.--Gail Gerlach’s defense claimed Brendan Kaluza Graham had meth in his system when he was killed. Gerlach admitted to shooting Kaluza-Graham when the 25-year-old tried to drive off in Gerlach’s car in March of 2012.

Gerlach’s defense also alleged Kaluza Graham had bags of meth on him when he was shot. The defense said they wanted the alleged finding of meth to be allowed in trial. They said they believed the meth on the victim was intended for resale.
Gerlach’s defense also put in a motion to keep Gerlach’s wife, Sharon, from testifying at the trial. That motion will be reviewed as trial gets closer.
Gerlach’s trial is set to begin March 31, 2014.
