SPOKANE-- KREM 2 News has learned more about an ex-marine who Spokane police shot and killed this past week in Hillyard.
Jeremy Groom died in the parking lot of the Special K bar on North Market Street. Family members tell KREM 2 News it all seems so surreal.
Alechia Norman says she is trying to keep herself together. Saturday night, she learned about her brother’s death.
Norman says Groom joined the U.S. Marine Corp right after high school. He operated tanks, traveled the world, and then left the military to become an electrician.
He spent four years with the Marines and then started his family. Groom leaves behind three children: a 9-year-old, a 4-year-old and a newborn.
Norman says she wishes she had a reason for the shooting and why Groom did what he did that night to explain to his children.
A good friend of Groom’s says Saturday Groom had been having an argument with his girlfriend at the bar. The friend says he tried to intervened and that’s when Groom pulled the gun on him, but he doesn’t think Groom had any intention to shoot him.
