SPOKANE -- Forget a magical sleigh ride -- Santa’s helpers made a surprise delivery on a fire truck Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters from Spokane Station 2 delivered brand-new winter coats to more than 550 school children in need at a Stevens Elementary School surprise assembly.
Thanks to secret helpers at the school, the coats were ordered in just the right size, and in a variety of styles and colors.
The surprise delivery was made in conjunction with Firefighters Coats for Kids Foundation, a new community outreach program designed especially for Firefighters across North America.
Firefighters Coats for Kids Foundation is a division of Operation Warm, the largest non-profit distributer of new coats in the U.S.
Washington State Firefighters are the first to launch on the West Coast with one of the largest efforts, thus far.
