CHENEY -- Eastern Washington University Fooball began to walk the steps of Boise State University Monday, as the Eagles are getting rid of the green grass of Woodward Field for red turf.

Bulldozers, backhoes and dump trucks began working to tear out the grass this afternoon. The project will take about 8 weeks to complete, and should be done in time for the Eagles opener at September 18 against Montana.

Boise State with their blue turf is the only other school with colored turf.

The multi-million dollar project only got approval two weeks ago.

The project started with a $500,000 donation by former Eagle lineman Michael Roos, who now plays for the Tennessee Titans.
