SPOKANE, Wash. -- Developer Dave Black announced Friday that plans are in the works to bring a Target store to Spokane's South Hill.

Black broke ground on the project Friday afternoon. He said the store will open in July 2014 along Regal near the Palouse Highway.

Black has been working for 10 years to bring a target to Spokane's South Hill. He said the company has tracked customers and they noticed plenty of people from the South Hill traveling to other stores.

The development will bring in a lot of new traffic to Regal. Black said they're going to add a traffic light and have several turn in lanes to improve the flow of cars.

"I think you're going to see traffic get a lot smoother after the development than it was before.," said Black.

The four other stores coming to the development have yet to be announced.
