Detectives: Suspects used coat to strangle victim during robbery

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Investigators said robbery suspects attempted to strangle a man with a coat during a brutal home invasion and robbery last weekend.  It happened at an apartment near South Eastern Road and Sixth Avenue.

Spokane County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Detectives are investigating the case. Officials said the victim told investigators three men knocked on his door. The victim said when he answered, the men charged in and began attacking him. The victim also claimed he was beat over the head with a gun and strangled with a coat. Witnesses also saw the attackers try to strangle the victim with a coat. He went on to say the men kept demanding to know where his computer was. The victim told police he eventually broke free and armed himself. The victim told police the men got away with his laptop computer.

Officials told KREM 2 a portion of the laptop was found scattered on and around a tree nearby.

Witnesses tied a Red Honda Civic to the crime. Detectives located it and impounded Investigators said zip ties and a baseball bat were visible inside the car. They searched the vehicle and also recovered brass knuckles inside.

SCSO Officials said no arrests have been made in this case yet. They said drugs do not appear to be involved in this attack. They are asking anyone with information to please call crime check.
