SPOKANE, Wash. - A mother described a harrowing few hours after her son turned up missing on Monday morning.
Ryan Sparks, 4, was in the care of his aunt when he disappeared. He was staying the night at her apartment when he woke and wandered off. The aunt noticed Ryan was missing around 4 a.m. when she woke up to feed an infant in the home. She called police when she noticed the front door was open.
Police immediately started surveying the area near 2100 E. North Crescent for the little boy. About four hours later, they received call from a nearby neighbor. They woke up to find the boy asleep on their couch.
"I literally feel like I've lived a lifetime in the past couple of hours," said Ryan's mother Kristina Ackerman.
Ackerman said Ryan loves trains and water which caused some initial panic because of the proximity of the Spokane River in relation to the area he went missing.
