BUCKEYE, AZ (CBS) -- An amazing aerial rescue in Arizona as a helicopter flies a stranded horse to safety.
The horse named Colorado became stranded last Friday (3/12) on a sandbar in the middle of a river after four horseback riders tried to cross the Gila River.
The river was too deep and swift for the riders to make it across and a helicopter had to rescue them. Three of the horses were able to make it out, but one was left behind.
The Arizona Equine Rescue landed a helicopter on the sandbar and the rescuers calmed the horse, put a blindfold on him and put him into a harness.
They then airlifted him to safety and for a reunion with his owner. Mark Eshenbaugh was in the helicopter when they pulled Colorado to safety. He said he is so happy to have him back and he is very grateful to everyone who helped.
